Blackbird owners, Terry and Dave, opened the Café and Tavern in the fall of 2016. They had purchased the recently closed Evergreen area restaurant and gave it a facelift — along with a new name they introduced a totally new menu.

Cooking and serving food to her friends, family and community has always been an important part of Terry’s life. Having years in the restaurant industry under her belt, she met Dave when both were both working a restaurant in Fort Collins. As they completed college, they found new directions, but when the Blackbird building was for sale, Terry couldn’t pass up the chance to share her love of food with her community. She new immediately that she would give up her previous position teaching fifth grade to run the restaurant full-time. Owning the Blackbird fulfills a long time dream and culminates years of work as a café manager, bartender and cook.

The location of the Blackbird on Bear Creek, a rushing mountain stream frequented by deer, elk, heron, hawk, ducks, and the occasional bear was just too perfect!

With riverside seating, the Blackbird hopes to cater to the hiker and hiker-at-heart with a unique and satisfying menu for before and after the hills. Inside you will find a full bar, several comfortable booths, and tables — all with a river view. A delightful summer patio seats those wishing to be outside and still overlooking the river. (Dogs are able to be tied up in the grassy area just beyond the patio.)

This is a family venture. You might find their kids hunting minnows and salamanders in the creek with friends…

The Blackbird family welcomes your family as well!
